Graminor Ltd. is a plant breeding company responsible for developing new varieties of field crops and horticultural plants suitable for Norwegian and Nordic growing conditions.
Graminor's core competence and mission is to develop new and improved plant varieties suitable for Norwegian and Nordic climate and growing conditions. We also test and represent imported varieties and produce pre-basic seeds for further multiplication and marketing by seed companies.
Graminor was established in 2002 by merging Norwegian plant research and development into one company. We have a staff of 30.
The company operates from the head office at Bjørke Research Station, near the city of Hamar in south-eastern Norway. Bjørke includes modern greenhouses, laboratories and fields for research. This is also the center of breeding and testing of new varieties of cereals, potatoes, strawberries and forage grasses. Testing of grass varieties for the northern regions of Norway, takes place in Tromsø. Fruit and raspberry breeding and development takes place at Njøs Research Station in Sogn and Fjordane
