Plant breeding

Graminor develops and represents new varieties within species of barley, wheat, rye, triticale, potato, forage crops, fruit and berries.

Our mission is to deliver new plant varieties that are adapted to the Norwegian climate for the Norwegian farmer. Our goal is to breed and represent the best varieties suited for thelocal conditions experienced by Norwegian farmers, thus ensuring a more predictable and sustainable production.

Graminor run plant breeding programs that are financed by market revenues. In addition, Graminor also undertake breeding programs that are commissioned by the public sector in species where market revenues are insufficient to finance such breeding programs. The publicly commissioned plant breeding is within species where the Norwegian farmer and society as a whole benefit from new and better varieties being developed and made available, but where the market income is unable to fund the breeding and is thus supported by the state.
